Thoughts on bin Laden:

“The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him.” –Washington, D.C., Sept. 13, 2001

“I don’t know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don’t care. It’s not that important. It’s not our priority.” –Washington, D.C., March 13, 2002

Religion. A touchy subject, to be sure.

But what the hell… I’m going to talk about it.

On one hand, religion offers comfort, peace and hope.

On the other hand, many people hijack religion to justify and advance their insane agendas.

Religion to me is simple.

If you believe in God then all you ever have to do is talk, pray or think directly to or with God.

There’s nothing complicated about it.

There is a direct and straight line from you to God.

Whenever anyone blocks your direct path to God, they are leading you away from God. And as far as I’m concerned, they are trying to trick you in some way for some reason.

You do not need to sit in a church, worship symbols, or sing horribly boring songs, or give your money to some criminal like Pat Robertson, in order to communicate or have a relationship with God.

I’m not saying this to offend anyone. I’m not criticizing anyone for what they believe and practice. I’m just saying what I believe and don’t believe.

And I don’t believe I have to communicate to God through a priest, or by reciting prayers while holding beads, or stranger yet, praying to other human beings called saints.

And I don’t believe in the pope… Come on, Jesus was a hippie. The long hair, beard, sandals… The guy thought long and hard and decided he would spend the majority of his time with the poorest, sickest and filthiest humans in society.

But yet, the pope lives in a golden palace surrounded by guards and acts as if he is God himself.

I feel pretty sure that if Jesus re-appeared today, the absolute last place and the absolute last person he would visit would be the Vatican and the pope.

It’s a straight line. A straight, uninterrupted line from you to God.

Anything else is a distraction and a lie.

Stevie Wonder on Sesame Street 1972… pretty sweet…

Watch some Eddie Harris…

Quick thinking:

“I wish you’d have given me this written question ahead of time so I could plan for it…I’m sure something will pop into my head here in the midst of this press conference, with all the pressure of trying to come up with answer, but it hadn’t yet…I don’t want to sound like I have made no mistakes. I’m confident I have. I just haven’t — you just put me under the spot here, and maybe I’m not as quick on my feet as I should be in coming up with one.” –G.W. Bush after being asked to name the biggest mistake he had made, Washington, D.C., April 3, 2004

The purpose of this site is to share thoughts and ideas. And to generate some discussion.

My only request is that everyone keep their comments relatively clean and respectful since woman and children may see what you write.

Steroids in Baseball

Before I begin, let me just say, as much as I enjoy professional sports, they are nothing more than entertainment.

The outcome of a game, win or lose, in no way affects my life. Professional sports are nothing more than the original “reality” T.V. show.

With that being said, on to steroids in baseball…

Anyone who used steroids prior to 2003 did not break any baseball rules because baseball had no rules banning them. So there is nothing to do to any player who admits or is suspected of using before 2003.

All of baseball is to blame for turning themselves into a joke.

And loud mouth idiots like Curt Shilling need to shut up. He keeps running his mouth about how great he is because he never used any drugs. And he keeps talking about how records of “cheaters” should be forfeited.

That’s just stupid. If you take away individual records for the last ten or fifteen years, then you just need to wipe out every stat from every player and team for that period.

How many W’s did Shilling get as a result of a home run that was hit by a steroid user? Shilling wasn’t talking about the evils of steroids ten years ago. And he wasn’t talking about them when his team was winning the World Series.

Using Shillings logic, if someone from his World Championship team was found to have used steroids then his teams records and championship should be erased from the record books.

It is what it is… Baseball made itself look stupid. Not individual players. From top to bottom baseball created this PR mess they are faced with. And only they can fix it, if they really even want to fix it.

Barry Bonds is most likely an asshole. But is the black eye on baseball his fault? It’s his fault just as much as it is the owners’ fault and Bud Seligs’ fault.

And in the end, baseball, like all professional sports, is nothing more than an entertaining distraction from real life.
